Meet Dr. Vonda Wright and learn more about Hughston Clinic.

With a career underscored by technological innovation and 24/7 dedication to patient care, where does a surgeon at the top of her game go for the next chapter? Orlando.
When Dr. Vonda J. Wright walks the halls of the Hughston Clinic in Lake Nona, the double board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon can reflect on the many steps that led to a dream appointment in a land known for making dreams come true.
Before coming to Lake Nona, Dr. Wright had already achieved international acclaim as the founding chief of the Northside Hospital Orthopedic Institute—Sports Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, and as the inaugural medical director of the University of Pittsburgh Lemieux Sports Center.
The researcher, author and speaker brings world-class, comprehensive care to Central Florida’s weekend warriors and elite athletes while building a program to embrace patients who wish to travel to Florida for their surgery.
The clinic, open since mid-November, emphasizes proven orthopedic sports surgery techniques and wellness programming while leading with such clinical advancements as orthobiologics — platelet-rich plasma injections, bone marrow matrix and other natural substances in the body — to vastly improve patients’ quality of life.
One of the more remarkable aspects of this major development in Orlando healthcare is the partnership of Dr. Wright and The Hughston Clinic with The Lake Nona Performance Club, within which the orthopedic clinic is located. LNPC employs cutting-edge performance technologies with the latest in workout equipment and classes for a whole-body approach to well-being. All three tailor care to the individual, with no need to sacrifice personal attention for the latest in proven technology.
“The people and the opportunity here are unparalleled,” Dr. Wright says of why she chose to move her practice and family to Orlando. She and husband Peter Taglianetti, a two-time National Hockey League Stanley Cup champion with the Pittsburgh Penguins, could have gone anywhere. Their blended family of six children, as well as her 81-year-old parents, are enjoying all that the area offers.
“The purposeful design of this region and the technology . . . It’s all this and what’s coming,” she says. The area is a hub of advancements that enrich lives, making it the logical home of an orthopedics practice that emphasizes excellence.
Says Dr. Wright: “I bring 20 years of taking care of elite athletes and active people of all ages and skill levels. From the back yard to the ball field to the boardroom.”
